Miroslav Loubek only made two changes from the weekend, while Vincenzo Italiano welcomed Arthur back into the fold alongside four other changes.

First half

Nothing. LMQ had a shot from Facundo Roncaglia range that came close. Viktoria Plzeň had a shot that Matěj Vydra dragged wide but he was probably offside in the buildup so it wouldn’t have counted anyways. It was mostly just roughhousing as Fiorentina kept three-quarters of the possession as their hosts dropped about 14 behind the ball at all times.

Second half

Not much better. Fiorentina at least made a couple of semi-concerted efforts to get the ball in the box but it was mostly with all the immediacy of an obese and geriatric dachshund chasing a squirrel in the back yard. The most exciting moment was a bunch of idiotic Viola fans throwing flares onto the pitch, forcing a lengthy break in play. Hopefully they had their fun and now get banned for life.

It degenerated into a matter of ugly fouls back and forth and no real action either way. As a spectacle, it was utterly without merit.

Full time

Goals: hahahahahahahaha no

Cards: Cadu 16’, Režník 72’, Chorý 90’+3; Ikoné 89’

What’s next

Fiorentina get a Monday (?!) game against Genoa, then welcome Viktoria Plzeň to the Artemio Franchi on Thursday for a match that’ll determine who goes through to the semifinals. Maybe something will happen there, but odds are the Czechs will play their fourth straight 0-0 in the Conference League knockout rounds and happily take it penalties. Joy.
