With an hour and a half left in the window, Milan aren’t engaged in serious talks for another defender and will most likely settle with bringing back Matteo Gabbia and onboarding Filippo Terracciano from Verona, who plays fullback.

None of the numerous options attached to them in the last few days turned out to be entirely viable. The latest one was Marlon, who’s on loan to Fluminense from Shakhtar Donetsk and starred for Sassuolo in the past, SportMediaset relays.

Per Calciomercato, the Rossoneri still plan to touch up their rearguard down the line. Ideally, they’d like to do it for cheap, completing at least one Bosman addition. Two of their targets, Tosin Adarabioyo and Lloyd Kelly are on expiring contracts.

Milan appear closer to the former. Director Geoffrey Moncada has had multiple contacts with his brother and agent. Instead, they face more competition for the Bournemouth staple. His team hasn’t given up on extending his deal, either.

The contract of Simon Kjaer runs out on June 30th. His stay could come to a natural end, even though he has resumed being a staple thanks to their emergency in the last couple of months. Gabbia was recalled to better cope with that, but he’s not a lock to be part of their future plans.

Our Take on the Milan Defense

It’s a gamble, and the only justification for their inactivity is the belief that one of the top three options will return soon-ish.
