Lewis Ferguson has been linked to a few top Serie A sides considering his remarkable showings, but he’d prefer to move close to home once he eventually departs Bologna, which won’t happen in January and perhaps not even next summer considering his long-term contract.

The midfielder spoke to La Repubblica.

“Our performances might look surprising from the outside, but they aren’t for us considering how we work daily. There’s a very tight-knit group of guys who trust each other and are comfortable. Who knows where we could arrive. We’re in a good spot and have the stuff to stay there, but we take it game by game.”

Ferguson dished on his future.

“I’m happy here, and I was right in trusting Aaron Hickey. I see myself in the Premier League in a very imprecise future.”

The ace commented on his role.

“You can play everywhere once you learn to exploit the spaces: box-to-box, no.10, or winger. I like to hit the net, but you have the right opportunity only once every ten touches. It’s a shame if you don’t exploit it. I could have scored more, but I never doubted I could keep up my numbers in Italy too. I can reach the double-digit threshold as I did with Aberdeen.”

Ferguson complimented Thiago Motta

“He’s truly a top coach. He taught us not to be conditioned by the circumstances, positive or negative. We always focus just on the upcoming match and never settle. He helped me a lot with his analysis.”
